This presentation summarizes recent research conducted on patterns of property loss during the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA. Using logistic regression of several inspection data sets, it isolates a number of property and structural variables that predict property loss and survival. Variables that contributed to survival include construction after California’s 2008 fire-safe building code was passed, presence of multi-pane windows, enclosed eaves, and ignition resistant siding among other variables. Factors that increased chance of destruction included being a mobile home, presence of accessory/utility outbuildings, and sloped properties among others. Vegetative defensible space had an indeterminant impact. Click here to view a recording of this webinar NOW!
